Regulatory posture
OCC
BitGo's former WBTC custodian subsidiary, BitGo Trust Company, Inc. (a South Dakota state trust company), received OCC conditional approval on December 12, 2025 to convert to BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association. This concerns BitGo, not the current WBTC custodian.

2026-09-14 · correction
Custodian corrected from BitGo Trust to the BitGo and BiT Global joint venture (Hong Kong-based, BitGo a minority shareholder), following the 2024 custody move. BitGo HQ corrected to Sioux Falls, SD per its S-1/A principal executive office, and its trust subsidiary's OCC conversion approval added. BitGo founders and investor entries removed as not pertaining to the WBTC custodian; the Goldman Sachs round was Series B, not Series C. The custodian also carries the token-issuer role, since the WBTC whitepaper assigns the mint keys to the custodian.

About Wrapped Bitcoin
Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) is a token backed by bitcoin held in custody and minted through authorized merchants. In 2024 BitGo moved WBTC custody, which it had previously held in the United States, to a joint venture with Hong Kong-based BiT Global in which BitGo is a minority shareholder. The joint venture continues to use BitGo's multi-signature technology.
